Midaye is looking to employ an exceptional, Somali- and English-speaking Project Officer to take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of community support to our service users, families and groups of community members. Fluent proficiency in Somali and English is necessary. Training and experience in mentoring, emotional support and community advocacy is preferable. The position is a maternity cover position and is for a fixed term of 1 year.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide mentoring and advocacy support to local community members in the areas of emotional well-being and primary and secondary education. The candidate will also be required to engage with local community members in order to encourage participation in Midaye’s services and activities. Responsibilities will also include: providing befriending, information, advocacy and mentoring as appropriate, focusing on issues related to health, parenting, benefits and empowerment, mentoring and social networks. The candidate will also need to liaise with other service providers on behalf of clients, such as health care professionals, Children’s Centres, benefits staff, Jobcentre and others.
