This service is provided by Midaye to RBKC based Somali women. It is a service valued by all those involved, it is also an important part of building community cohesion and breaking down isolation.
The forum takes place during the supplementary school at Dalgarno Neighbourhood Trust, whilst their children are in class, parents and other female members of the community come together to discuss a variety of issues and topics.
Occasionally we have guest speakers invited and a workshop carried out, in the past this has included health and wellbeing talks by community health team from RBKC PCT.
The forum provides a safe and quiet place for Somali women to socialize and support each other and increase their confidence, it mirrors the way in which issues are dealt with traditionally in Somali culture, in the form of a group discussion.
